Oltre JM6 - Pelham Blue- Light Distress

Fano, a long-respected boutique guitar company, has grown in recent years to offer a range of instruments.  The Oltre Series – which replaces the previous Standard Series – represents one of the most affordable made in American customizable guitar lines.  Built in Fano's US facilities, Oltre Series guitars are made to order – guitarists can choose from over 40 different finishes, as well as a range of distress levels.  The models can be further visually customized with a variety of pickguard colors and knob styles, as well as plethora of pickups.

Truetone Music has enjoyed a long history with Fano, from the beginning.  As soon as the Oltre Series was announced, we jumped right on board, cooking up a batch of customized guitars.  All of them were spec'ed out together by the head of Fano and the head of Truetone.  This is one of the designs we fell in love with.

We started with the most popular platform - the JM6.  This offset body style has proven to be Fano's most sought after.  For aesthetics, we went with a super cool color that is rarely seen - Pelham Blue - and chose a Light Distress level, which was tastefully done.  It's not just about looks through - it's also about feel.  As soon as this guitar is in hand, one can tell why the Light Distress package is preferred by many.  The parchment pickguard is a great match, as are the cream radio knobs.

The feel & playability of this guitar is incredible.  That's where Fano excels - while their guitars look super cool, it's all about the expert craftsmanship and super comfortable feel of the hand-shaped necks.  The 60's style C neck carve and 9.5 - 12" compound radius make this a breeze to play all the way up the neck.  The Kluson-style tuners top it off, and it's all anchored by a Tone Pros bridge & tailpiece for enhanced tone & sustain.

Speaker of tone, this one kills.  At a suggestion from Fano's Graham Dowling, we went with Lollar Imperial humbuckers.  It's their  take on the original 1950s P.A.F. pickup. Designed to draw from the long revered qualities of the original P.A.F.s while improving on their frequency balance and giving a slight boost to the bridge pickup’s output, this could be our favorite humbucker out there.   The neck & bridge pickups match together very well and are balanced.  Together, they make for an amazing set on an amazing guitar.  As soon as we plugged this guitar in, we see why he suggested them - and were quite happy!  This is one of the best sounding JM6's that we've ever had here, and we've had a lot.

Plain and simple, this is great example of the amazing work being done at Fano with the Oltre series.  Sound, feel and looks all get top marks.  And, it comes with a premium Fano gig bag.  Come to Truetone Music to experience this guitar today, or make it yours right here right now.
