Exclusive Sugarpine 1952 Telecaster

We at Truetone Music are always looking to come up with something you haven't seen before, especially when in partnership with Fender.  For this take on a classic early 50's era Tele, we went a step further - going to the Custom Shop in Corona, CA to hand select the wood for an exclusive run of guitars.  We were escorted into the wood vault, to go through their finest collection of wood spreads.  From that, we designed a batch of 15 guitars that are all one of a kind.  Within that, there is only one Sugarpine Telecaster, and this is it.

We are excited to present this guitar - and before we say anything else, we'll pause here so that you can check out the photos.

The one-piece Sugarpine body is something to behold.  We chose the most interesting piece on hand, and went with a natural finish to really let the wood grain to show.  Typically, exotic wood guitars like this are done as an NOS build - however, in this case, we went with a Relic package.  The final result blew us away when it landed.  The Custom Shop nailed the vibe we were going for - from a distance, it doesn't seem like a Relic (since it's not painted).  Look closer, and the wear is evident.  Look even closer, and you realize how cool this guitar is.

While most early 50's Tele's are ash, we went with Sugarpine on this one.  It's a great tonewood - it imparts a nice punchy, round and full sound with a bit less top-end snap than ash.  It's very resonant.  There's also a history there - Fender has used pine in the past for some of its instruments, including the first prototypes of the Fender Esquire and Broadcaster.  Since then, it's been used on a variety of special runs.  We were thrilled to be able to use Sugarpine, as it's more unique, and we got to hand select the exact spread for this guitar.  We've included a photo of the raw wood - be sure to check that out.

Another feature that makes this guitar more unique is the neck.  We went with a slimmed down version of the '52 Style "U" profile, to make it super comfortable.  You get the classic, vintage Tele feel but thinner.  This guitar also has the modern preference of a 9.5" radius and 6105 frets, making it easy to play.

We chose classic '51 Nocaster pickups to give it the vintage sound that is beloved by Tele players everywhere.  They are true to their heritage; created with the original design in mind to accurately mimic the twang and shimmer of the original Fender guitar. These period-correct single-coil pickups impart tight low end and clear, balanced midrange.  You get enamel-coated magnet wire for warm vintage tone, flush-mount magnets for even string response, and Alnico 3 magnets for more focus and enhanced dynamics.  This is THE classic sound.

Other features include a vintage early 50's style bridge, vintage tuners, a single-ply Black pickguard, and a bone nut.  The guitar comes with a Custom Shop case, strap and Certificate of Authenticity.

We haven't seen a Tele in Sugarpine like this before - it's truly stunning.  We picked the coolest looking piece Fender had at the time, which was earmarked specifically for this guitar.

Come to Truetone Music to experience it today, or make it yours right here.  Remember, only one was made, and once it's gone, it's gone for good.
