Just So We're Clear

Truetone Music is proud to have a long and close relationship with Fender, especially with the Custom Shop.  Every so often, we make a pilgrimage there to sit down with Masterbuilders to cook up a batch of amazing guitars.  Sometimes we go for vintage-styled recreations, sometimes we go for modernized tweaks.  Sometimes it's a classic color, sometimes it's a totally new color or even reclaimed wood.  No matter what, they always knock it out of the park!

And sometimes we go for something totally different and unique.....

A couple of years ago, Custom Shop Masterbuilder Scott Buehl built a clear acrylic Strat for the artist H.E.R., to be played on the Grammys.  We immediately fell in love with the idea, and put a few on order as soon as Fender was willing to accept orders.  This is the second one to arrive.  It's a true attention-getter, and a guitar-building feat that very few could accomplish.  Scott is uniquely talented and possibly the only one that could have pulled this off with some precision, and accuracy.

The main feature and calling card of this guitar, of course, is the clear acrylic body.  It's fully see-through, which at once glance seems like an illusion.   All of the electronics can be seen inside the guitar, making it even more fascinating.  Carving out the cavity was difficult enough, but what could be even harder is the carving of the contours on the body.  The curves of the body are hard enough, but the forearm rest and belly-cut on the back were seriously challenging.  No shortcuts were taken - Scott was determined to get it right, and have the corrects contours of a Stratocaster.  And he nailed it.

The guitar isn't just meant to look unreal (which it does)....it's also meant to be played for real (which it also does).  It has a rock solid quartersawn maple neck with a very comfortable 60's Oval C neck shape, 9.5" radius and jumbo frets.  For the sound, Scott chose to match the clear body with Custom Shop Vintage Noiseless pickups.  It's outfitted with vintage style tuners, bridge and other hardware.  Of course, it has a clear pickguard.  What else!  It comes with the original hardshell case, strap and Certificate of Authenticity.

A Masterbuilt instrument is like no other, and this is truly unique.  Come to Club Fender at Truetone Music to experience it today, or make it yours right here.
