Exclusive 1952 "Red Devil" Telecaster

We at Truetone Music are always looking to come up with something you haven't seen before, especially when in partnership with the Fender Custom Shop.  For this take on a classic early 50's Tele, we chose a unique aesthetic - Black over Candy Apple Red, with a Relic finish that brings the underneath color out.  We done this before, and every time it seems that the Custom Shop does it even better.

The lightweight ash body will be comfortable to keep strapped on for hours - the guitar weighs only 7.10 lbs.  It hasd a rock solid quartersawn maple neck, with the classic 52 Style U neck shape to keep it period correct,.  This is a great feeling neck - chunky, with a lot to hold on to, but not quite a "baseball bat" neck like a Nocaster.  We chose to go with the modern preference of a 9.5" radius and 6150 (medium jumbo) frets, making it easy to play.

The Handwound 51 Nocaster bridge pickup gives it the vintage tone with lots of twang that is beloved by Tele players everywhere.  Then, to make this guitar unique compared to other '52 Teles you see out there, we chose to throw a humbucker in the next position - a popular mod over the years.  We went with the Custom Shop's suggestion of a Seymour Duncan Screamin' Demon, a medium output humbucker that matches up great on this Tele.   For more on what that sounds like, here it is straight from the horse's (Seymour Duncan) mouth:

The idea was to create a pickup that had the articulate airiness of an old-school P.A.F., but with more growl and sizzle. We designed slightly overwound coils paired with an alnico 5 bar magnet and a mix of pole pieces that included one row of standard adjustable screws and one row of shorter Allen head screw. What you get is a big, open tone, with a treble emphasis that keeps your pick attack sounding articulate at any level of distortion.

The name "Red Devil" was given to this guitar the first time we designed it, due to the killer look of Black over Candy Apple Red.  It then lived up to it's name the moment it was plugged in and the Screamin' Demon humbucker came to life.  It's a uniquely killer Tele for sure!
