One of a Kind Masterbuilt Apprentice Nick Saccone 50's Tele Relic
Truetone Music is proud to have a long and close relationship with Fender, especially with the Custom Shop. When a new Masterbuilder is on the rise, we take notice, and especially did when long-time Custom Shop veteran Nick Saccone's name came up. We're well aware of his skills, and were thrilled at the opportunity to orders a guitar built by him. He came up with the specs on this one for a special Custom Shop Showcase Dealer event, and we chose a one-off color to make it unique to us. When it landed here, we were all blown away.
The main feature and calling card of this guitar is the AAAA Flame Maple neck - it's simply stunning. The roasted treatment darkens it up and also helps to accentuate the grain. Nick did an amazing job on the finish, as the worn in back of the neck gives this guitar a super comfortable, vintage feel. If you like fat necks, this is the one for you - it's a Nocaster "U" neck shape, measuring .950" - 1.00". It's not for the faint of heart! The 9.5" radius and 6105 (narrow tall) frets make it easy to play, even when bending up high on the neck.
The body is ash, painted in a gorgeous Chocolate 3-Tone Sunburst lacquer finish. Nick absolutely nailed the relic'ing work on this one, which is no surprise. We've seen his work on Teambuilt instruments for years, and he's one of the best. Also, this guitar is a great weight, coming in under 7 lbs (6.9 to be exact).
For the pickups, we went with Twisted Tele pickups. They provide dynamic Telecaster tone with increased output, and a bit of Stratocaster sparkle added. Each pickup is tailored to its position to achieve its individual sonic character. The neck pickup's taller bobbin is designed to accommodate more windings, combined with a slightly shorter bridge pickup bobbin for dark full-bodied midrange. Formvar-coated neck pickup magnet wire adds brightness and glassiness. Enamel-coated bridge pickup magnet wire delivers warm vintage-style tones. Flush-mount polepieces produce even string response, and the Alnico 5 magnets add more focus and enhanced dynamics.
The guitar has present day Tele wiring (no dark circuit) with the tone saver feature, allowing you to roll down the volume without losing tone. This is a popular mod that players have loved for years, as it makes the guitar super versatile in different settings.
This guitar has all of the mojo of a vintage instrument, with the twist coming with the pickups and of course the finish. It comes with the original hardshell case, strap and Certificate of Authenticity.
