Used And Vintage Electric Guitars

Truetone Music has been selected to take in a special collection of instruments from a very special long-time customer and friend of ours.  A collector of only unique, rare, vintage and high-end guitars & amps, he amassed a serious collection of these years.  For the first time, these pieces are available on the market.

At Truetone Music, we love offset guitars, and get especially excited when a piece of offset history comes through the door.  That's what happened recently, when this beautiful vintage 1963 Fender Jaguar came to us as part of the collection.  The fact that it's Candy Apple Red with a matching headstock, and all original, makes it even more special.  Not only that, it comes with the original hang tag booklet, which are rarely found.  As an added bonus, inside the case is a pack of strings from back in the day (we don't have a year verification on that).  This is truly the complete package.

The Jaguar was introduced in 1962 as Fender's feature-laden top-of-the-line model, designed to lure players from Gibson. During its initial 13-year production run, the Jaguar did not sell as well as the Stratocaster and Telecaster, and achieved its most noticeable popularity in the surf music scene.  It was characterized by an offset-waist body, a switching system with two separate circuits for lead and rhythm, and a short-scale 24" neck.  After the Jaguar was taken out of production in 1975, vintage Jaguars became popular first with American punk rock players, and then more so during the alternative rock, shoegazing and indie rock movements of the 1980s and 1990s.  Since then, its popularity has exploded and Fender now makes a variety of models.

This is a rare example of a 1963 Jaguar that is all original, has not been refinished, and has the original case.  It does have some player wear but not all that much - especially considering that it turns 60 this year!  The guitar plays great, and there is still plenty of life in it.  We were actually suprised at how well it plays.  Our main luthier and vintage expert inspected & vetted the guitar to ensure that it is all original, not just the body & neck, but also the pickups, parts, hardware, etc.   This late in the year build is reflected by the "L" serial number that is commonly seen on instruments from 1964.

We rarely see all original Jaguars from the early-60's, and definitely not ones as cool as this - it would be hard to beat.  This is a great find for any fan of vintage Jaguars, or anyone wanting a piece of Fender history.
