Truetone Music is proud to be partnered with the legendary musician and songwriter John Waite in offering instruments out of his collection.   Each comes with a signed certificate verifying the authenticity of this instrument; assuring that it has been used on tour, in studio or personally by him.  During his years with The Babys, Bad English, and his own acclaimed solo career, various instruments were used and very few have become available, until now.

One of the most interesting pieces from his collection is this extremely cool Jerry Jones Longhorn Bass IV.   These are hard to find, especially in this color, and we were excited to see it come in.

Jerry Jones was a Nashville based maker of guitars, basses and other specialty instruments.  The focus was on Danelectro designs from the 1950s and 1960s, as Jones had secured Nate Daniels permission to use them.  He made high quality instruments for decades, before retiring and closing his factory in 2011.  Made in the USA, these basses have become very desirable for players seeking something unique.

This particular Longhorn Bass IV is in a very unique Blue Burst finish, which is rarely seen.  It features a 30" scale length, rosewood fretboard, 3-point chrome bridge with a rosewood saddle, and vintage style tuners.  It has dual lipstick pickups, with a 3-way selector switch, master volume and tone controls.  It's surprisingly versatile for different sounds, and extremely comfortable to play.  It weighs in at just 6.3 lbs.

Not only is the bass special in general, but this one in particular holds special pedigree.  John Waite has owned it for many years, and just recently decided to part with it.  It's in excellent condition - there are a few dings, mainly on the top of the back of the headstock (common for these).  Be sure to check out all of the photos.  All of the parts are original, and it comes with a hardhsell case.  The Certificate of Authenticity, signed by John Waite, is included.

This instrument has been vetted and worked on by Truetone Music. Rest assured that you are receiving not only a fine instrument, but also a rare piece of musical history.
