Fano Oltre Series JM6 Medium Distress Copper with Gig Bag
Oltre JM6 - Copper - Medium Distress
Fano, a long-respected boutique guitar company, has grown in recent years to offer a range of instruments. While its existing Omnis Series represents the company's most affordable offerings, and its pricier Alt de Facto range boasts the most options for customization, the Oltre Series – which replaces the now-discontinued Standard Series – looks to bridge the gap between the two.
Built in Fano's US facilities, Oltre Series guitars are made to order – guitarists can choose from over 40 different finishes, as well as a range of distress levels, from new-old-stock (NOS) to heavy. The models can be further visually customized with a variety of pickguard colors and knob styles.
Truetone Music has enjoyed a long history with Fano, from the beginning. As soon as the Oltre Series was announced, we jumped right on board, cooking up a batch of customized guitars. This is one of the first to arrive. All of them were spec'ed out together by the head of Fano and the head of Truetone - two long-time friends having fun designing some of the coolest guitars out there, to offer to you.
We started with the most popular platform - the JM6. This offset body style has proven to be Fano's most sought after. For aesthetics, we went with color rarely seen on a JM6 - Copper - and chose a Medium Distress level. This gives it a well-worn vibe without being overly thrashed. The clay dots on the fretboard, 3-ply cream pickguard and cream "radio" knobs add a nice touch.
The feel & playability of this guitar is incredible. That's where Fano excels - while their guitars look super cool, it's all about the expert craftsmanship and super comfortable feel of the hand-shaped necks. The 60's style C neck carve and 9.5 - 12" compound radius make this a breeze to play all the way up the neck. The Kluson-style tuners top it off, and it's all anchored by a Tone Pros bridge & tailpiece for enhanced tone & sustain.
Speaker of tone, this one kills. At Fano's suggestion, we went with the Lollar 50's Wind P90 Soapbar pickups. They are based off of pickups from a '53 Goldtop, to produce lower output, a delicate attack, and less midrange and bass. This results in a brighter overall tone with less grinding distortion. It's also slower to overdrive an amp as compared with stock P-90s. An excellent choice for players seeking an early Freddie King style tone....and still versatile enough to be used in a variety of styles & settings. Includes de-gaussed Alnico 2 magnets.
Plain and simple, this is great example of the amazing work being done at Fano with the Oltre series. Sound, feel and looks all get top marks. And, it comes with a premium Fano gig bag. Come to Truetone Music to experience this guitar today, or make it yours right here right now.
