Fender Custom Shop 1965 Journeyman Relic Strat Charcoal Frost Metallic

In 1965 Leo Fender sold the company he founded to CBS, effectively ending the era of the original Strat. The 1965 Journeyman Relic Stratocaster is a testament to this iconic design, representing the guitar as it was during one of its most popular years, but with a few modern updates.

The lightweight two-piece body is crafted from two pieces of alder, selected for their grain and weight, and wears a Journeyman Relic lacquer finish that will wear in a distinctively personal way. The rock solid quartersawn AA Flame Maple neck is topped with a nice dark Rosewood fretboard.  It has a very comfortable 65 C shape, keeping it period correct, but with the modernized feel and playability of a 9.5" radius and narrow tall frets for easy bending without fretting out.   It has all the look and feel of a vintage guitar that was used but not abused, and tastefully done.  The color is one you don't see very often - Aged Charcoal Frost Metallic, which is one of the coolest finishes that the Custom Shop offers, especially with a Journeyman Relic treatment.

The hand-wound ’65 Strat® single-coil pickups and Vintage Modified #2 wiring offer authentic tone that’s easy to refine while the reverse-wound/reverse-polarity middle pickup reduces hum when used in combination with the other two.  This wiring features a master volume, tone #1 (neck and middle pickups), and tone #2 (bridge) with treble bleed (for keeping mids and rolling off highs without adding bass).  These are some of our favorite pickups and wiring for vintage-styled Strats - it's a very versatile setup, and gives you the perfect 60's Strat tone.

Other features include Mother of Pearl dot inlays, a five-way switch, American Vintage synchronized tremolo bridge, vintage-style tuning machines, 3-ply Eggshell pickguard, wing string tree with nylon spacer and bone nut. Includes deluxe hardshell case, strap and Certificate of Authenticity.

Come to Club Fender @ Truetone Music to experience it today, or order right here to be shipped straight to your home before it's gone.
