Adirondack spruce top and forward-shifted bracing give you amazing volume and tone
Bracing is a major influence in determining the tone (as well as the volume) of your acoustic guitar. Originally developed by C.F. Martin in the 1850s, X bracing has the two main braces running in an "X" pattern from upper to lower bouts. During the late 1930s and early '40s, Martin started relocating their braces, scooting them back away from the soundhole by half an inch or so. This stiffened the top, minimizing instances of warping behind the bridge, but it also lowered the volume of the guitars. Well, that was then, and this is now. The Martin 000-14F Custom gives you the ideal bracing solution: 5/16" "Golden Era" Adirondack spruce bracing. Martin has shifted the bracing forward once again, giving you back your big volume and robust bass response while sidestepping the problems of yesteryear through the use of modern techniques. They've also strategically scalloped the bracing, opening up the mids and enhancing the volume even more. You get a veritable tone cannon, a handcrafted masterpiece, and a supreme expression of the luthier's art.
Elegant, vintage-flavored appointments make for one luxurious guitar
During the company's first century or so of existence, Martin had avoided making their guitars with too much "flashy ornamentation," arguing that it would detract from the tone and the "dignity" of the instruments. The tastefully appointed 000-14F Custom adheres to this aesthetic, giving you a no-nonsense instrument that is fit for a showcase. The 000-14F Custom features an old-school Martin logo, grained ivoroid binding, a fine herringbone "28" rosette, and a 1930s-style long bridge. To complete the vintage appeal, the 000-14F is finished with a special aging toner.
