The Texas Tea Jazzmaster

Designed expressly for jazzers (but adopted by surfers) and introduced in 1958, the Jazzmaster combined refined looks with a warm, mellifluous voice and new tremolo system. It evolved over the years, but the 1959 Jazzmaster is known as the most influential model that helped define new musical genres.  That's what we went for with this Custom Shop recreation, but with a few twists for modern players....and in a color that you've never seen on a Jazzmaster before.

The two-piece alder body sports the iconic offset curves designed for guitarists who usually played seated, and also wears a Journeyman Relic lacquer finish, giving it the look and feel of a guitar that’s survived over six decades of playing.  Our friends at the Custom Shop picked out light pieces, and the result is a Jazzmaster at just 8.2 lbs.  And for the color, we chose something rarely seen: Texas Tea.  By "rarely", we mean "never".  Texas Tea is a color that Fender debuted a few years ago for the American Ultra series, and proved to be a hit.  We've done a few Custom Shop builds with this finish, but just Strats and Teles - this is the first Jazzmasters to exist like it.

The Anodized Silver pickguard and aluminum pickup covers add to the uniqueness, giving this guitar a look like nothing else out there.  These are custom touches, as this is a guitar that we spec'ed out ourselves.

The tinted maple neck sports a 59 "D" shaped profile, another knob to the American Ultra Series.   This neck shape is becoming more popular, and we've been doing it on a handful of guitars.  It retains a classic feel, but a bit more streamlined design allows for easier, faster playing.  Throughout the years, most players have gravitated towards a 9.5" radius and 6105 (narrow tall) frets - so those are the two tweaks that we made on this guitar.  The result is a vintage vibe with modern playability.
Tied together with ultra-flexible, vintage-style Jazzmaster wiring—including the famous “lead/rhythm” circuit, complete with thumbwheel controls—the vintage styled Jazzmaster single-coil pickups sound mellow and fat; the model’s calling card.

Another main feature is that it's equipped with the RSD J-Bridge.  Fender's proprietary take on a new & improved bridge for offset guitars like a Jazzmaster, it's there for better stability, with brass saddles for extra warmth.  This bridge is only available on Custom Shop guitars.  In addition, this one has vintage-style tuning machines, a bone nut and a round string tree. Includes deluxe hardshell case, strap and Certificate of Authenticity.

This is a special Jazzmaster - you can see and hear why for yourself by coming to Club Fender @ Truetone Music, or by ordering right here to be shipped to your home.
