The Sleek Silver Jazzmaster

Designed expressly for jazzers (but adopted by surfers) and introduced in 1958, the Jazzmaster combined refined looks with a warm, mellifluous voice and new tremolo system. It evolved over the years, but the 1959 Jazzmaster is known as the most influential model that helped define new musical genres.  That's what we went for with this Custom Shop recreation, but with a few twists for modern players....and a new aesthetic that you've never seen on a Jazzmaster before.

The two-piece alder body sports the iconic offset curves, and also wears a Closet Classic lacquer finish, giving it the look and feel of a guitar that stayed hidden for over six decades and just resurfaced.  It has finish checking and natural again, but no wear.  After all, the intent is to present a vintage guitar that was never played.  We asked for heavy checking to add to the vibe.  The Custom Shop nailed it.  And for the color, we chose something rarely seen: Inca Silver with a matching headstock.  But it doesn't end there....

The Anodized Silver pickguard and aluminum pickup covers add to the uniqueness, giving this guitar a look like nothing else out there.  Not only that, but we also added metal "Harley" knobs and a metal switch tip.  These are custom touches, as this is a guitar that we spec'ed out ourselves.  Be sure to check out the photos and zoom in on the pickup covers - they're engraved with a super cool design.  The Fender Custom Shop sourced these specially for this guitar.  Never seen before, this Jazzmaster is truly unique.

The tinted maple neck sports a 62 Jazzmaster profile, another  to the American Ultra Series.   This is the most popular Jazzmaster neck shape, for good reason - it's super comfortable. Throughout the years, most players have gravitated towards a 9.5" radius and 6105 (narrow tall) frets - so those are the two tweaks that we made on this guitar.  The result is a vintage vibe with modern playability.

Tied together with ultra-flexible, vintage-style Jazzmaster wiring—including the famous “lead/rhythm” circuit, complete with thumbwheel controls—the vintage styled Jazzmaster single-coil pickups sound mellow and fat; the model’s calling card.

Our friends at the Custom Shop picked out light pieces, and the result is a Jazzmaster at just 8.0 lbs.   In addition, this one has vintage-style tuning machines, a classic Jazzmaster tremolo assembly, a bone nut and a round string tree.  Includes deluxe hardshell case, strap and Certificate of Authenticity.

This is a special Jazzmaster - you can see and hear why for yourself by coming to Truetone Music, or by ordering right here to be shipped to your home.
