Used And Vintage Acoustic Guitars

 ACOUSTIC EXCELLENCE

In the world of high-end boutique acoustic instruments, not many have the reverence that comes with Goodall Guitars.  As part of the acoustic community for 50 years, family owned and operated since 1972, Goodall has consistently built superb guitars that provide fantastic playability and rich tone, showcasing refined designs and appointments.  Handbuilt in a small shop, these are some of the finest acoustic guitars out there.  They avoid overly extravagant cosmetic options and allow the natural beauty of the wood to tell their own story.  The lyrical voice of their instruments speak for themselves, with the goal of inspiring players towards their own acoustic experience.

This Goodall KS3901 was crafted in 2004 (actual completion date of 10/18/04), in Hawaii.  This was during an era when Goodall was based in Hawaii.  The Koa Standard model, with its graceful curving lines, is approximately the same proportions as a dreadnought.  To James Goodall, the Standard model is the crowning achievement of his lutherie career.  Incredibly well balanced, with rich, powerful bass and midrange, matched by brilliant treble and shimmering harmonic overtones.  It has been said that "this guitar makes others sound like they are stuffed full of cotton".  As soon as we strummed it once, we understood exactly what they meant.

This amazing example of Goodall's work features a Master Grade Sitka Spruce Top with AAA Curly Koa back & sides - that sentence sounds stunning, and that's exactly what this guitar is.  The Curly Maple binding is a great touch as well.  Premium tonewoods are one expects to see when opening the call for a Goodall, and this guitar wouldn't let anyone down.  We were blown away when we first saw.  The tone is rich, and very full.  While it's warm sounding, it does have a nice snap to the attack and responsive dynamic range.  The classic combination of a Mahogany neck and Ebony fretboard lends itself to a very comfortable playing experience.  The playability is amazing - as to be expected from a Goodall.  All of us felt that it instantly became one of the best playing acoustics we have here.

Whether played finger-style or with a pick, and for a variety of styles, this guitar can cover it, with a harmonically rich sound that suits many genres.  Brilliant separation to each note and a powerful projection really make the voice stand out in any setting.

This is a special piece that we are proud to have here.  The guitar is in excellent condition - it's obvious that the previous owner was very, very careful to keep it that way.  It's been given the love that it deserves.  Now it's time to find a new home in a new collection.
