The Gibson Custom Shop and Murphy Lab collaborated to proudly to create a limited edition series that captured Tom Murphy’s expert knowledge of vintage guitars and his dedication to craftsmanship. This guitar was part of an exclusive run of 1959 Les Paul Standard reissues that features meticulously selected materials. They've been in high demand ever since.
The iconic single-cut Les Paul body comes with an ultra-light mahogany body matched with a superb AAAA-figured maple top. The top comes with a single-ply cream Royalite binding. This guitar provides excellent resonance and warmth with incredibly snappy tones. The top comes with The mahogany neck comes with a '50s rounded medium C which is truly comfortable and period correct with 12" radius. What makes this a true standout its Brazilian rosewood fretboard with 22 medium jumbo frets with aged cellulose nitrate trapezoid inlays.
The heart of this epic 1959 Les Paul reissue is its set of unpotted Custombucker Alnico 5 Magnet Zebra Coil humbucker pickups. These pickups provide the most accurate recreation of tones of the famed 1959 Les Paul. You get the combination of warm, thick, and articulate tones that are perfect for any style of playing. It comes with all the iconic electronics; 2 Volume, 2 Tone, CTS 500K Audio Taper Potentiometers, Paper-in-Oil Capacitors with 3-way Switchcraft pickup selector and 1/4" Switchcraft output jack.
Of course this magnum opus of a reissue would not be complete without its every attention to detail with its period-correct hardware: ABR-1 Historic Reissue bridge, Lightweight Aluminum Stop Bar tailpiece, Kluson Single Line, Single Ring tuning machines and more. The unique Murphy Lab aging process, exclusive to this series, includes heavy distressing of its custom-aged hardware.
This is undoubtedly the most prestigious recreation of a 1959 Les Paul. It is in impeccable condition and comes with with a leather-bound certificate of authenticity and an aged Lifton hardshell case. The techs in our shop have set it up to play perfectly.
We've had a lot of special Gibson guitars here, but this Les Paul could be the best yet. It's a rare opportunity to own one of just 50 made.
