Used And Vintage Electric Guitars

Built in the absolutely glorious year of 1974, this Gibson 1955 Reissue Les Paul Special is a real treat.  Why?  Because 1974 is the year of the Rumble in the Jungle, Stephen King's debut novel was published, and Natty Dread by Bob Marley released.  Oh wait, back to the guitar....

It's the first reissue of the 1955 Les Paul Special that Gibson did.  Remember, back in the early 70's, guitar companies weren't doing a plethora of reissues the way they do now.  The accuracy of what they were doing is debatable but that's besides the point.  The drive for recreation of vintage guitars just wasn't there.  Hell, "vintage" was much of a thing then....it was just a "used" guitar!  But, we digress.  Gibson did this one like the original: a Mahogany body with Tobacco Burst on the top, while the back is Natural gloss.  This is complimented by a 4-ply black pickguard and black knobs.  It's a great look.  It's also a great player, with a mahogany neck that's very comfortable, topped with a rosewood fretboard, dot inlays and cream binding.  It has the wrap tailpiece, killer sounding P90 pickups, and all of the vibe you'll ever need!

Nowadays, people refer to this guitar as the Les Paul 55/74, but but in 1974, that suffix wasn't tacked on.  It was just the 1955 Les Paul Special.  In the years that followed, the model stayed in the lineup and went through some changes, but the 1974 version is the original and most desirable.

Built in Kalamazoo at the original Gibson factory, this one has held up for nearly 50 years and is in great shape.  It seems ready to go for another 50!  While you will find others of this model out there, most are hacked up with mods and non-original parts.  There aren't many all original like this one or as clean as this.  It's a great find!  The guitar has been setup to play perfect by the techs in our shop, and is ready to roll.
