If you're looking for a legendary amp head that brings you robust clean tones, we have quite the find with this Fender Bassman from 1965. It's definitely something you won't see very often.
For that desire big, rich clean tones, this is hard to beat. The amp also gives you a really nice crunchy breakup when pushed. The bottom end is thick and powerful, with sparkling highs on the top end. By itself, it's great, but this Bassman head would also be a perfect platform with a pedalboard.
This is an all-tube 6L6 amp head that delivers 50-watts of clean powerful sounds. It has two channels, Normal and Bass, with four inputs. You have the classic Volume, Bass, and Treble controls for each channel. The Bass channel gives you an extra bump in the lower frequencies while the Normal channel has a tighter bass response. This amp has a speaker out as well as an additional output for another cabinet. The Normal channel has a Bright switch to enhance the top end, while the Bass channel has a Deep switch to enhance the low end. Because this amp pumps out thick clean tones it takes overdrive and other effects really well. It really delivers your instrument's purest tone.
We just took this one in and had it serviced by legendary L.A. amp guru Greg Leon. The transformer and almost all of the parts are original. Here's what has been replaced:
- All knobs (Volume, Treble, Bass)
- 30mfe 500v Capacitors
- 80mfe 500v Capacitors
- 470 ohm 5w Plate Resistors
- 1.5k ohm Grid Resistors
- G.E. American N.O.S. 12AT7 preamp tube
- The original 2-prong power cord was replaced with a grounded AC cord
This amp is in great condition, especially considering it's age. As an added bonus, it comes with a Studio Slips cover/case. We don't see many of these coming through, and this is a great find.
