Fender Custom Shop Limited Edition 1954 Precision Bass Journeyman Relic Aged Pink Paisley
Discover one of the most eye-catching basses to ever grace Truetone Music - and we've welcomed countless unique basses before! Presenting the exceptional Fender Custom Shop Limited Edition 1954 Precision in Aged Pink Paisley. We first scored it at an exclusive Fender Custom Shop Dealer event in Scottsdale - of over 100 instruments available, this was the bass we wanted the most, so we were thrilled to get it! After selling that one, we knew we had to get another, and here it is.
The introduction of the Precision Bass in 1951 is arguably one of the most significant musical events of the 20th century. This revolutionary instrument not only provided bass players with a means to amplify their sound, but also eliminated the burden of carrying around a heavy and delicate upright bass. Its impact on popular music was profound, giving rise to a multitude of new genres.
The instrument has evolved over the years, but for many, going back to the early-to-mid 50's is the way to go. This Limited Edition 1954 Precision Bass offers the appointments that made the original the undisputed champion of working bassists the world over, including a dark tinted quartersawn maple neck with a 7.25" fingerboard radius, '51-‘55 P Bass bridge with vintage fiber bridge saddles and flatwound strings. If you're looking for an bass with a vintage feel, this is it - the '55 Soft "V" neck shape provides plenty of grip but is still super comfortable. It also boasts the contoured body that the P Bass had in 1955 with a lacquer finish.
What really makes this bass stand out, of course, is the aesthetic: it's Aged Pink Paisley. No, it wasn't done like this back in the early '50's, but that's part of the magic of the Custom Shop. Imagine an original 1954 P Bass, later given the Pink Paisley treatment, and then played on tour for decades. We imagine that this would be the result. The Custom Shop did a great job with the Journeyman Relic finish, adding in a lot of checking, giving this bass an incredibly cool vibe. The photos show the bass quite well, but of course it's even better in person - that's where the checking and grain really can be seen.
Other features include a 2-piece ash body sorted for lightweight, 20 medium vintage frets, '55 P Bass pickup for authentic old-school Fender sound, volume and tone controls, bone nut, round string retainer and vintage-style tuning machines. Includes a deluxe tweed hardshell case, strap and Certificate of Authenticity.
A living legend, this Precision Bass sounds just as good now as the original did back in 1954. Come to Truetone Music to see this beauty in person, or order right here to have it shipped to your home.
