Vintage 1977 Fender Stratocaster Left-Handed Hardtail 3-Tone Sunburst With OHSC

Here at Truetone, we like to offer southpaws something special when we can - and right now we have a super cool vintage 1977 Stratocaster. It's left-handed, and it's a hardtail. Now that's something you don't see very often!
This instrument is from the personal collection of the late Brad Pie who played guitar in the 1990’s with the great Johnny Otis. Along with Johnny’s sons - Shuggie Otis (Guitar) and Nicky Otis (Drums) - Brad contributed guitar to the 1992 Grammy-Nominated “Spirits of the Black Territory Bands” by the Johnny Otis & His Orchestra group. Many of the instruments from Brad’s collection are uniquely modified.
Replaced pickups and selector switch (modern 5 way), and we made a new nut - all else is original. That includes the finish, pickguard, bridge, tuners and control pots. We did find that at one point it was routed for a humbucker in the bridge position, so that cavity is still there. The guitar is loaded with high quality Van Zandt pickups, which give you a killer vintage Strat tone.
Brad Pie had it strung up as a right-handed guitar, played upside down. We converted back, because we felt that left-handers deserve an opportunity at cool vintage guitars too! Check out the photo of the album cover with the man holding this exact guitar.
This one, compared to others in the Brad Pie Collection, was not too heavily modified. At some point in time, someone did convert it from 3 bolt to 4 bolt for the neck, which was commonly done. It does have "Scratch Pad" on the back with a Jimi Hendrix sticker, as well as pick holder, but that's it. See photos for all of that, as well as the condition. This is definitely a guitar that was put to use, so it has some honest player wear, but nothing too much. Overall, it's in good shape, with just the right about of aging and wear to complete the vintage vibe.
The maple neck is super comfortable to play, especially after being setup by the techs in our shop. It has a slim profile and easy to grip, suitable for both rhythm and lead work. This one isn't too heavy either, in comparison to other 70's Fender guitars. It weighs 7.9 lbs, so it's one that you could keep strapped on for the whole gig.
The original hardshell case is included. We've had some great vintage Strats in here, but a lefty like this is a rare find! It won't last long, so don't sleep on it.
