Vintage 1967 Guild Starfire I Bass Sunburst With OHSC

Born in 1967, here's this incredible Guild Starfire I. Also born in 1967 would be Kurt Cobain, Philip Seymour Hoffman and Shannon Hoon - sadly, they are no longer with us, but this fine instrument is. It's a thinline semi-hollow body bass with warm, thick, thumpy tones. That is why such great players such as Phil Lesh, Chris Hillman, and Jack Casady have all used one. This simply is an amazing vintage bass!
The Guild Starfire I has a resonant double Venetian-cutaway arched maple body with a center block. It is beautifully bound. There are distinct f-holes that projects its acoustic tones. The set mahogany neck has slim late '60s neck profile for an extremely comfortable feel. It has a rosewood fingerboard with 21 frets and stylish pearl dot inlays. There is a thumb rest and fingerrest on opposite sides of the strings. The Sunburst finish is a traditional burst with that perfect vintage glow in the center. The headstock comes with the iconic Guild log inlay, with sturdy big button tuners. The scale length is 30 1/2" so its definitely in shorter scale territory. This leads to an easier feel with less tension.
The thump of this bass tones comes from its body and this exceptional Hagstrom Bi-Sonic pickup. This pickup is uniquely placed in the center of the top giving it a tonal character all its own. You get more bass response, thicker mids, and more airyness.
All of the original hardware is here, with its top-strung wooden bridge with individual saddles, Master Volume and Master Tone controls.
This is an amazing instrument in great condition, especially considering it's age, and comes with its original hardshell case. The techs in our shop have set it up to play perfectly. For fans of vintage basses, especially unique one like a Guild Starfire I, this is a a great find.
