Exclusive Figured Rose Myrtle 1959 Jazzmaster

We at Truetone Music are always looking to come up with something you haven't seen before, especially when in partnership with Fender.  For this take on a classic late 50's era Tele, we went a step further - going to the Custom Shop in Corona, CA to hand select the wood for an exclusive run of guitars.  We were escorted into the wood vault, to go through their finest collection of wood spreads.  From that, we designed a batch of 15 guitars that are all one of a kind.  Within that, there is only one Figured Rose Myrtle Jazzmaster, and this is it.

We are excited to present this guitar - and before we say anything else, we'll pause here so that you can check out the photos.

The Figured Rose Myrtle top (over an alder body) is something to behold.  This finely textured hardwood and is rarely seen on guitars, so when we were presented the option, we knew we had to jump on it.  We chose the most interesting piece on hand, and went with a natural finish to really let the wood grain to show.  Given its beauty, we chose to keep this one as an NOS piece - no aging or relic work - and it came out great.

A great feature of this guitar is the neck.  It has an easy playing '59 Esquire "C" profile, with a modern radius (9.5") and narrow tall frets.  We chose this neck shape due to its comfortable grip - while it has a vintage feel, it's not too thick. Some call it the perfect "in between" neck. The 59 Esquire C shape is becoming more popular, as it's a similar carve to the 60's Oval C seen on so many Custom Shop guitars, but with a little more "beef" to it.  If you're a fan of vintage neck shapes but still like it slim, this is a great way to go.

Designed expressly for jazzers (but adopted by surfers) and introduced in 1958, the Jazzmaster combined refined looks with a warm, mellifluous voice and new tremolo system. It evolved over the years, but the 1959 Jazzmaster is known as the most influential model that helped define new musical genres - that's what we went for with this Custom Shop recreation, but with a few twists for modern players.  Tone-wise, you get the classic sound, thanks to the Custom Shop Vintage Jazzmaster pickups.  Tied together with ultra-flexible, vintage-style Jazzmaster wiring—including the famous “lead/rhythm” circuit, complete with thumbwheel controls—the vintage styled Jazzmaster single-coil pickups sound mellow and fat; the model’s calling card.  But don't be mistaken, this guitar can definitely rock, as plenty of players have shown with Jazzmasters.

A modern tweak we made was the addition of the RSD bridge.  Designed in house by the Fender Custom Shop's metal magician, Scott Buehl, this proprietary bridge improves stability, bringing consistency to tuning and intonation, correcting some of the quirks of the original Jazzmaster bridge.  We love it so much that we put it on almost every Custom Shop Jazzmaster we do.

It's topped off with vintage tuning machines, bone nut and a Silver Anodized pickguard. Also includes a Custom Shop brown hardshell case, strap and certificate of authenticity.

We haven't seen a Jazzmaster like this before - it's truly stunning.  We picked the coolest looking piece Fender had at the time, which was earmarked specifically for this guitar.  Come to Truetone Music to experience it today, or make it yours right here.  Remember, only one was made, and once it's gone, it's gone for good.
