The Black Mirror Strat


Sleek but comfortable, modern but classic - that's the Black Mirror Strat.  While much of what we do with the Fender Custom Shop is an aged guitar with vintage styling, sometimes we want to switch it up - that' what this is.


The Custom Shop Black Mirror Strat is a reflection of that.  It features a two-piece select Alder body, with a lacquer finish, in classic Black. A key feature you'll notice right away is the mirror pickguard.  This is a rarely seen look.  In fact, we've never seen one like this before, which is exactly why we put this pickguard on.  As soon as we did, it completely changed the look, and turned this guitar into entirely something else.  

We went with one of our favorite vintage neck shapes - the 59 Esquire C, but with the modernization of a 9.5" radius and Medium Vintage frets.  This allows for steady play up into the higher register without fretting out.  This guitar was made to be played fast, with the ability to bend as much as you want.  

For the pickups, we chose the Fender Custom Shop '66 Stratocaster setups, for a simple reason: we love the sound of them.  Underwound and with Alnico 5 magnets, they don't bite too hard, and are very balanced.  The midrange cuts through without being throaty, and the treble never gets harsh.  The bottom end has a good punch, isn't too boomy, and provides enough power to get heavy when needed, while retaining the classic clean chime of a 60's Strat.  These pickups are perfect for anyone that appreciates mellow, scooped mids and doesn't not want high output pickups. Bottom line, this is a great sounding set of pickups and excellent for getting that 60's bell-like scooped sweet Strat sound.
 
Other features include a Custom Shop vintage-style synchronized tremolo, vintage-style tuning machines, and a bone nut.  It includes a Deluxe Black Custom Shop case, strap and certificate of authenticity.
 
This is undoubtedly one of the coolest Custom Shop guitars we've had here, and that's saying a lot, as we get a lot!  There's just something about the cool Black finish with the mirror pickguard and a maple neck that ties it altogether in a unique package.  That mirror pickguard is an official Fender pickguard, installed by us to replace the plain white pickguard that originally came on it.  Come to Club Fender to check out this amazing Strat, or order here right now for it to be sent straight to your home.
