For those seeking a distinctive twist on a traditional design, the Gibson Mod Collection is the perfect choice. This special selection showcases the renowned guitar company's dedication to delivering one-of-a-kind models, rare finds, prototypes, and more. We've been fortunate to acquire a few of these gems and are enamored with each one. This particular model is especially intriguing as it is a Custom Shop 1964 ES-335, crafted as a unique, one-off creation.

We always feel lucky to have such guitars here, and we're happy to present this amazing creation.  The Gibson Custom Shop really knocked it out of the park with this one.

This unique 1964 ES-335 has a slew of features that jump out. Immediately, you'll notice the finish.  We haven't seen one like this before, and neither have you - because it's the only one made.  Interestingly, Gibson originally called it Aqua Sandbar, but the guitar's box label said Laguna Azul.  We found some history of a few Aqua Sandbar finished guitars that Gibson did, which looked a bit different.  We felt that Laguna Azul was more fitting so we ran with that.  You could call it either one, but either way, it's beautiful, especially over the flame maple.  It's stunning.

ES-335's are legendary semi-hollow guitars featuring a 3-ply maple/poplar/maple body with the classic "F-Holes" and maple block. You've seen plenty - but you haven't seen one like this, with a trio of dogear P-90 pickups and a finish like this.

The pickups were created by the Gibson Custom Shop to evoke the original tone of the P-90's first introduced in the early 1950s.  Those produced a raw, powerful tone that helped define rock and roll in the formative years. Today, the P-90's traditional combination of high output and brilliant tone is still considered a favorite. There's a good reason why.  The pickups cut through any type of music, all while displaying amazing tonal sensitivity for everything from blues and rock to mellow jazz riffs.  These feature vintage, braided two-conductor wiring and are fully wax potted to eliminate any chance of unwanted microphonic feedback.

You get 3 indiependent volume and master tone controls to really dial your sound in, as well as a 3-way toggle switch.  There are a huge variety of tones to pull out of this guitar.

The mahogany neck has an authentic '64 Medium C profile with 22 medium jumbo frets and a nylon nut (width: 1.687").  We found it to be super comfortable to play.  The dark rosewood fretboard spots 12" radius, so no worries about fretting out as you bend up high.  This ES-335 comes with an ABR-1 tune-o-matic bridge with Graph Tech saddles, Trapeze tailpiece and a set of Kluson tuners for tone, sustain, and stability.  There's no pickguard - we cover up the beautiful wood grain and finish?

At an even 8.00 lbs, it's an instrument that is comfortable for long hours of playing. This wonderful Gibson is in excellent condition - the previous owner is a long-time regular that has become a great source for guitars like this, and he keeps everything in pristine shape.  Brand new, this guitar was $7,200, and considering that it's been only played a few times, at this price it's a great score.

The original hardshell case and Certificate of Authenticity are included.  It's been setup to play perfectly by the techs in our shop.

For those that appreciate the unique and one-off nature of guitars like this, in a classic platform like a 1964 ES-335, this is not something to miss out on.  This is the only one ever built, so once it's gone, it's gone for good.
