If you love the thump of a vintage '60s bass , you will love this 1966 Mosrite Joe Maphis. This is a surf-rock icon, featuring the famous "Ventures-style" inverted double-cutaway body and packed with classic tones. Get thumpy with this one!

The body is a mahogany body with cap that features the signature Mosrite "German Carve" around the edges, adding a sophisticated, sculpted look to the offset design. The maple neck is famously thin, one of the narrowest ever, with a rosewood fretboard and "speed frets" that make it feel incredibly fast and low-profile.

The electronics feature original Mosrite high-output single-coil pickups, which are much hotter than your average Fender pickups and have a distinct, punchy character. These are controlled by a simple master volume, master tone, and 3-way selector, giving you access to that legendary Mosrite Twang and thumpy bass tones that defined the surf and country-rock scenes of the 60s. The pickups are often described as having a "wide" frequency response with a very aggressive bridge tone.

You get the simplicity of a tension with a vintage metal bridge with rosewood stopbar tailpiece. The duck-foot tuners and the vertical Mosrite logo on the headstock complete the vintage look.

This vintage bass is all original except for the entire pickguard assembly - it's a repro pickguard, newer knobs, pots, wiring, switch, etc.  All of it is done very well done to match what it would be originally.

This Joe Maphis bass model is a rarer bird that offers a playing experience unlike anything else from the 60s. It's in great condition especially for its age and comes with its original hardshell case.  The techs in our shop have setup the bass play perfectly.  It's a big body with a skinny neck, and has a super cool vintage vibe!
