Used And Vintage

While we love a wide variety of guitars, from vintage pieces to current models from the biggest brands, sometimes what we get most excited about are new, unique builds that stop us in our tracks to say "what is that?".   It's the guitars that we've never seen before that really draw our attention.  And when it surprises us at how good it is, that's even better.

For those that want something completely different - and extremely well-built - the Baranik Guitars RE-1S is exactly that.  This just arrived here at Truetone and we're all geeking out over it.

Baranik Guitars was created from Mike Baranik's love of guitars, experience in repairs and formal training, and a desire to create something unique.  Originally focused on acoustics, he eventually transitioned to electrics, creating a line of guitars like no other.

According to Baranik, "I tried my best to channel Nat Daniel, the genius behind the original Danelectro Guitars and Amps and was very creative with using unique materials to keep costs of materials and labor down.  The RE-1s was designed to simplify the manufacturing without losing the most critical parts of a guitar, playability and tone. Almost every single RE-1s part is made here in the shop from repurposed materials.  I’ve even designed and handwound a “goldfoil” style pickup that can be moved around (even while playing!) to achieve a wide variety of sounds not normally available with a single pickup guitar."

Yes, the pickup slides back & forth, allowing you to get a variety of tones, with the simplest of maneuvers.  Your eyes will naturally gravitate towards that, and then the very interesting contraption below it, which houses the jack, as well as the volume and tone controls.  It's a great design, for both form and function.

The neck is very smooth and easy to play, with what feels like a "C" profile, and a 14" radius for easy bending high up in the register.  The guitar is very light, so it will be easy to keep strapped on all night.

The guitar came to us with an aftermarket hardshell case.  It's been setup to play perfectly by the techs in our shop and is in excellent condition.  This is quite the find, as there aren't many of them out there, and we expect it to move quickly!
