Used And Vintage Acoustic Guitars

Every now and then, we are privileged enough to take in a special guitar - and this is one of those occasions.  Every Collings acoustic that we get is amazing, but few hold the pedigree that this one does.  It was previously owned by the late Brett Tuggle (Fleetwood Mac, Steppenwolf, David Lee Roth, Waddy Wachtel, Rick Springfield).  He had it on tour while on the road with Fleetwood Mac; check out the photo of him with this guitar (courtesy of the Collings website), backstage at a show.  This one is in a unique Doghair finish, equipped with a Fishman pickup.  We are proud to present the exact guitar.

The Collings C10 is a more compact option compared to the OM guitars, which were both introduced in the same era. With its slim waist and small upper bout, this model offers a targeted and accurate sound. The C10 is particularly suitable for players that are used to an electric guitar, due to its rounded neck shape.  The oval neck heel of the C10 models is designed for comfort, helping to provide access to the upper frets. Its distinct shape and asymmetrical headstock, reflected in the curvilinear pickguard, present a refreshing option for those who seek a more unique look among small acoustic guitars.

Not surprising, as it is a Collings acoustic, the build quality is second to none, and the tone is full, rich and balanced across the tonal spectrum.  For a small body guitar, it really projects strongly.  Here's more insight:
  • Hand Voiced  -  Each top is hand selected, evaluated, and graduated to its own unique thickness; maximizing the tonal potential.
  • Premium Tonewoods  -  Built with the finest tonewoods available; the wood is acquired, acclimated, and hand selected by master luthiers who choose each component with the whole tonality of the instrument in mind.
  • Playability  -  A combination of exacting PLEK machine leveling and hand fret dressing ensures consistently excellent playability and a silky fret feel.
  • Finish  -  By meticulously hand-sanding between coats, the nitrocellulose lacquer finishes measure between .005” and .007” in final thickness, maximizing acoustic response while providing excellent protection and aesthetics.
  • C10 Deluxe Appointments  -  The C10 Deluxe features a fully bound top, back, neck and haircut-style peghead with black/white top purfling.
  • C10 Neck Profile  -  Each C10 features a comfortable medium-fat C shaped neck profile with 2 3/16 inch string spacing.
The guitar is in good condition - it does have some honest player wear, as it was on tour, but it's all cosmetic.  The guitar has been vetted and worked out by the techs in our shop, so it plays perfectly.  It did not come to us with a case, so we have paired it with an aftermarket case that fits perfectly and protects the instrument well.

This is a rare find, with a special story behind it.  We have a feeling that it will be gone quickly.
