Vintage 1970s SUNN Model T Guitar Amp Head

The Sunn Model T Amplifier Head stands as a classic, known for its unique sound that has captivated since its debut in the late 1960's. This amp delivers a dense, full-bodied tone capable of effortlessly shifting from pristine cleans to intense distortion. It remains a top choice for those aimed at an authentic, gritty sonic character.
We just took this one in, which was built in the early 1970's, a time period that's too fuzzy to remember for those that were around back then. The Internet says "It was brown, orange, green, and shaggy. It smelled weird, and the food was bad." That sounds about right - but what matters is that amps like this have stood the test of time.
There's a reason why players loved Sunn amps. From Josh Homme to Joe Walsh, from Clutch to Cobain, from Sleep to Sunn O))) - all put them to use. The Model T is the revered one that is still in demand today, especially a vintage one like this. Tons of headroom, perfect as a platform for pedals, and the ability to handle low tunings exceptionally well - and that's not to mention how durable and reliable it is.
The Sunn Model T features a classic tube design that delivers rich warmth and a broad dynamic range. Its straightforward control layout enables musicians to easily shape their tone, making it ideal for both studio sessions and live gigs. With two channels available, switching between clean and overdriven sounds is seamless, allowing your tone to stay as expressive and versatile as your playing. Whether performing in intimate settings or large venues, this amplifier head provides the power and presence needed to command any space with impressive sound.
100 watts, 6550 tubes, 3 inputs and a simple control layout allows you to shape your tone while bringing full power to the table. You can switch the output impedance, making this a very useful and versatile head to take around. Yeah, it's heavy, but you knew that going in!
This amp is in great condition, especially considering it's over 50 years old. It's been vetted, and is in perfectly working order. On the top, you'll see that "MAKUS" is tagged on there. You may be wondering, who is that? So were we. A little sleuthing landed us on a doom/gothic metal band from Turkey. While we don't know if this belonged to them or just a fan, it's fitting, as Sunn amps are ideal for that type of music.
The Sunn Model T is a special amp, and this vintage one is a prime example of why. This is a great find for those that know - we have a feeling it won't be here long.
