PRS Private Stock Custom 24 Semi-Hollow Piezo Blood Red Glow With Case

PRS's Private Stock program originated in 1996 to bring Paul's unique instrument designs to life outside of traditional manufacturing methods. Every guitar is carefully conceived and built with a “one-off” mentality.  All Private Stock woods are carefully housed in “The Vault” just outside of Paul’s office.  Finish is the moment where an instrument takes on much of its personality.  The process is proven to highlight the elegance and figure of the woods chosen.  Inlay is another part of the Private Stock process with nearly infinite options and combinations, as a way to personalize the instrument.  From those materials to the top-shelf pickups and hardware, a Private Stock guitar represents the ultimate in craftsmanship and quality, as well as collectibility.

This PRS Private Stock Custom 24 Semi-Hollow Piezo (PS11552, serial # 25406457) showcases this perfectly.  Truetone Music designed this guitar with PRS to offer something you won't see very often.  Any Private Stock guitars is amazing, but this one in particular really stands out.

First, you'll see that this Custom 24 is a Semi-Hollow - it's a version of PRS's best known model that you won't see very often, especially not like this.  The Curly Maple top has a Blood Red Glow finish that is truly stunning. The 3D effect of the wood grain comes through in the photos but is even better in person.   We actually picked out this specific top from a selection that PRS provided out of their exclusive wood vault.  We knew it would look great in Blood Red Glow, as we're confident in their ability to knock the ball out of the park every single time.  And they did!  

The rest of the body is African Mahogany, as is the neck, which is topped with East Indian Rosewood.  The combination of mahogany + maple for the body and mahogany + rosewood is classic in the guitar world.  PRS captures this with the highest quality of woods - it looks beautiful, and of course sounds great.  To complete this, we went with some rather unique choice for the fretboard inlays - they are "Offset Birds w/ Outline With Old School Eagle".  We like how the positioning of the inlays are on the bass side of the fretboard, adding a cool custom touch.  The material is Abalone with a White MOP (Mother of Pearl) accent.  Other nice touches we added were a rosewood truss rod cover to match the fretboard, and Curly Maple binding on the neck.

The neck has a Pattern Thin profile, and is very comfortable.  Over the years, as players have gotten used to slimmer necks, the Pattern Thin profile has become the most popular for PRS.  The 24 fret fretboard has a 10" radius, encouraging easy bending.  You'll stay in tune with Tweaked Phase III Locking tuners (Ebony buttons) and a PRS Patented Tremolo, Gen III Piezo bridge.  Of course the guitar is setup to play perfectly.

Now, about the sound - which of course is a key element.  As beautiful as this guitar is, and how nice it feels, at the end of the day, it needs to be heard.  And when it is, it's something special.  There are two elements:

This Private Stock Custom 24 Semi-Hollow is loaded with dual PRS DMO humbuckers.  Since debuting at the beginning of 2025, these pickups have gained a lot of attention.  DMO stands for Dynamic, Musical, Open.  They were spec’d by Paul Reed Smith and the PRS Engineering team. From hands-on research into coveted vintage pickup models to advancements in signal analyzation and “tuning” technology, these pickups incorporate every detail of pickup knowledge gained in years of R&D.  DMO pickups have a “wide open” sound with vocal character, meaning they deliver clear, pleasant-sounding tones across a wide range of frequencies (bass to treble) in each pickup.

This guitar also features a 3-way selector to switch between or blend the magnetic pickups and piezo electronics. Two output jacks provide the ability to plug into an electric or acoustic guitar amp or DI into a soundboard. By utilizing the separate blend control, the tone of the PRS DMO pickups can also be combined with the piezo acoustic sounds through a single output. With a nearly infinite range of tones, this could be a perfect “go-to” guitar for players of all kinds.

Other features include Ivory pickup rings, Black Lampshade knobs, and a Bone nut.  The guitar comes with a beautiful Black Paisley case, and includes a certificate of authenticity.
