Used And Vintage Amps

This is one of the true classics: a small box Marshall 1987T Lead Tremolo head.  Built in 1970, this vintage piece has THE classic Marshall tone that tone chasers are always chasing.  Now here's a chance to end the chase.

Originally released in 1966 and in production until1973, the 1959T was a 100 watt head (Plexi 1966 to 1969, Aluminum faceplate after that).  The 50 watt model is 1987T, known as the “small box” version, and is quite rare - that's what we have here.  The small box was made so that it could be used with the Marshall 4x10 cabinets.  Ever since then, players have been on the hunt.

For authentic vintage rock sounds, it's hard to beat this.  We just took the amp in, had it serviced, and are excited to present it.  Made in the United Kingdom in 1970, it has stood the test of time.  Be sure to read the notes below and check out all of the photos.

Whether it's Hendrix, Allman, Young or Johnson, this is the tone that many have known & loved for decades.  Rich, textured and harmonically dynamic, the sound is exactly what you'd expect out an amp like this.  It's the British drive that only Marshall can deliver.  The plenty of clean bite and headroom before the riding into a wave of overdrive.  This is an amazing amp, and truly something special - we don't expect to have it long.

Here are all of the notes that we can provide about this amp:

- Replaced output transformer from 1990
- Rubber feet changed
- Tremolo doesn't work (quite common with these)
- Replaced switches,  red filter capacitors and plate resistors
- Hardwired for 120V
- Recently serviced by vintage tube amp guru and L.A. area legend Greg Leon - changed 1 preamp tube, fixed AC adapter, cleaned all controls, tested all tubes and components, fully vetted and confirmed as in good working order.
