Used And Vintage Amps

Truetone Music has been selected to take in a special collection of instruments from a very special long-time customer and friend of ours.  A collector of only unique, rare, vintage and high-end guitars & amps, he amassed a serious collection of these years.  For the first time, these pieces are available on the market for the first time.

Everything from this collection is special, but one really jumped out: this ultra rare 1959 Fender Bassman.  This is one the most iconic amps in Fender's long history (and just guitar amp history in general).  It helped to spawn an entire industry of tube amps, as it was ahead of its time in what it provided.  45 watts pumped through four 10" speakers, 2 channels, 4 inputs, and classic tweed styling - that's what the Bassman was and continues to be as a reissue more than 60 years later.  This one has made it through the test of the time, and is still going strong.

We'd love to say it's all original, but this one is definitely not (and if it were, it would be priced much, much higher).  The main thing, externally, is that it has been recovered - it's not the original tweed, but it's done right.  Same goes for the grill cloth.  Internally, a lot has happened as well - replaced speakers, power & output transformers, and more.  A full detailed list of what has been changed is below.  We had this amp properly inspected and vetted by an outside source - an amp tech who is local L.A. legend and vintage expert.  Everything is straight and tested to good working order.  The condition of this amp is excellent, especially considering its age.  Be sure to check out the photos to see everything.

This vintage amp has all of the tone and vibe you'd expect from a '59 Bassman.  It's a sound that's hard to beat.  There's a reason why it's become a serious player's "go to" amp for both stage and studio use.  We were blown away when we plugged it in.  The pine cabinet is resonant, and supports the tight cleans as well as the crunch when you turn up.  It's warm and buttery when it needs to be, and can provide that top-end chime that guitarists love to get out of Fender amps.  And it can also melt your face off.  It's that kind of tone.

We've had a ton of vintage amps here over the years, and this one stands out as one of the coolest.  It would be a fine addition to any vintage amp collection.
