Gretsch Custom Shop Masterbuilt Stephen Stern G6136CS 1959 White Falcon Brazilian Rosewood NOS Vintage White

IMPECCABLE CRAFTSMANSHIP
The Gretsch Custom Shop is where the time-honored legacy reaches its creative apex. No instruments epitomize the extraordinary expertise and attention to detail of Gretsch’s most trusted hands like Custom Shop instruments. From modern versions of legendary Gretsch instruments to artist tribute models and specially requested one-off guitars, the Gretsch Custom Shop takes “That Great Gretsch Sound” to an entirely new plane, but also preserves and perfects it.

Truetone Music is proud to have a long and close relationship with Gretsch, especially with the Custom Shop.  Every year, we make a pilgrimage there to sit down with Masterbuilder Stephen Stern and his team to cook up a batch of Custom Shop guitars.  Sometimes we go for vintage-styled recreations, sometimes we go for modernized tweaks.  Sometimes it's a classic color, sometimes it's a totally new color or even reclaimed wood.  Either way, they always knock it out of the park!

This G6136CS 1959 White Falcon with Brazilian Rosewood is a perfect example of what the Custom Shop can do.  A classic take on one of the most classic guitars of all time, this isn't just any White Falcon - it's a one of a kind with a Brazilian Rosewood fretboard.  Truetone Music was fortunate enough to obtain this guitar during a special Custom Shop event as part of NAMM 2021.  It's the only one that exists.

You'd be hard pressed to find a better playing or sounding Gretsch hollow body anywhere.  The C shape neck is extremely comfortable, and while this is a big body of course, it still balances perfectly.   Even with the Bigsby BG6 (a classic Gretsch element), it's still not that heavy.
Stephen Stern chose the TV Jones Brian Setzer Signature pickups - which provide the legendary Gretsch sound as heard on TV Jones Classic's, but with a slightly higher output and a different response.  It's a proprietary design which employs special-alloy pole screws (with more steel) and mismatched coils which highlight the response of the magnet.  This provides more clarity and a greater low-end punch, which helps cut through the mix no matter what you're playing.  The addition of the treble bleed control allows you to ease up without losing highs.

The Brazilian Rosewood fretboard is what makes this a unique take on a highly sought-after guitar, and a rare find.   This wood is in extremely limited supply.  It also means that we cannot ship this guitar outside overseas - this is for within the United States only.
It's truly a stunning guitar, and one you won't see anywhere else - because it's the only one ever built!  We consider ourselves lucky to be able to present this masterpiece by Masterbuilder Stephen Stern.  Come to Truetone Music to experience it in person, or make it yours right here.
