Here at Truetone Music, we love Hofner instruments, are one of only a handful authorized dealers in the U.S for their German-made premium line. It's an exclusive club, and a part of that is the privilege of having access to Limited Edition versions of Hofner's best known instruments, like this custom color 1962 Violin bass.
The color is officially called "Light Green". It seems to be more along the lines of a blue, but we'll go with the official color title. It's very unique, and very cool....and very limited - only 6 were made for the whole world. We believe only a couple made there way to the U.S. We're proud to have one to present.
The Hofner 500/1 violin bass was designed by Walter Hofner and launched at the Frankfurt Music Messe in 1956. It has since gone on to become one of the most recognisable electric bass guitars in the music world in terms of both looks and sound.
The 'Mersey' bass is inspired by a bass made in August 1963 for Paul McCartney. Two piece neck, two-on-a-strip tuners and unbound neck. Fully hollow body. Original '63 Hofner neck profile. Fitted with flatwound strings. For the fully authentic look and sound of the early 1960s this is the bass.
Including a Hofner Vintage strap and Hofner case. This bass was built as part of a super limited run, and it's the only one we got.....once it's gone, it's gone for good!
