Used And Vintage Basses
In the world of vintage basses, few exude the coolness of a 60's Danelectro.  We love these little beasts, and were fortunate enough to get this Shorthorn in recently.  It has all of the vintage vibe you'd ever want in a smaller bass, plays great and sounds fat.

Danelectro came out with the Shorthorn in the late 50's as one of the their most basic models, as a affordable and easy to play option, and it quickly became a garage band favorite.  It features a semi-hollow Masonite and pine body with vinyl edging, a poplar neck and Brazilian rosewood fretboard.  It's super light (this one is just 5.8 lbs) and very comfortable to play whether sitting or standing.  Full measurements are below.  It's a short 15 fret neck, topped with the classic "coke bottle" headstock, stenciled Danelectro logo and older-style Waverly strip tuners.  Since the strings extend to the bottom of the body the scale is closer to a full sized bass.  This helps to provide great, "tight" feel to it.

The single pickup is surprisingly powerful and versatile - you can get a punchy bottom end, a bit of twang, and a nice range of tones.  One volume, one tone and a toggle switch gets you to where you want to go.

This Shorthorn still has the original Copper finish, preserving it's true vintage vibe.  It has a variety of nicks, chips, and dings on the body and neck, as to be expected for a bass that that's around 60 years old.   All of that adds character - and thankfully, no issues.  The bass has a beautiful patina.  Almost all of the parts are original, other than the pickguard, bridge and knobs (all replaced long ago).  It appears that the tuners, pickup, and everything else is original.  The bass has been vetted and setup to play perfectly by the techs in our shop.

This is one of the cooler basses we've had here and don't think it will last long.  Get it before it's gone!
