Used And Vintage

Hit the highway of great tones with this fiery Gibson Firebird from 1997. You can crank out the riffage and leads with this legendary solid body. Packed with powerful pickups and a legendary body construction you get a guitar that doesn't compromise great taste.

The Gibson Firebird comes with a sleek resonant mahogany body with mahogany wings. It features the classic design that was inspired the by the legendary Firebird car. The guitar has its unique 9-piece mahogany/walnut neck-through-body construction which gives you incredible sustain. The neck profile has comfortable slim 60's profile with a rosewood fingerboard and trapezoid inlays with 22 medium jumbo frets.

With their mini-humbuckers Gibson Firebirds are prized for their great tones. These pickups deliver the thick tones of a humbucker but with even more bite and top end sparkle than their standard size counterparts. This is great for searing leads and riffs especially noticeable with gainer settings. Stay in tune with the classic banjo style tuners. Its ABR Tune-o-matic bridge and stopbar tailpiece maintain stabiilty and intonation with impeccable sustain.

All in all this tone machine is in great condition, has been setup to play perfectly by the techs in our shop, is ready to go and comes with its original hardshell case.

How here's the special part, which we've save for the end:  the guitar has been signed by the legendary Johnny Winter.  And here's the full story:

In 1998 Bill Hodgman bought some strings at the Guitar Center in Lawndale, California. As hewas walking out he dropped a business card in a contest box for two tickets to see Johnny Winter at the House of Blues. While in his office in downtown LA on the day of the show (May 6).  Bill received a call from GC corporate offices informing him that I had won a Gibson guitar as well. He was told Johnny would present the guitar to him at a meet and greet before the show.

Unfortunately, that didn’t happen. He was told Johnny needed to get his head In performance mode before the show and that he would meet Johnny backstage after the show. After the show Bill waited in the backstage lounge with the GC rep and then moved outside the door to the artist’s room. After a long wait the GC rep went into the room, then burst out with the Firebird in his hand, and said “Follow me! Johnny is in the tour bus outside on Sunset”. They went out the House of Blues back door and hustled to the tour bus. The GC rep went in the bus with the guitar and through the windshield Bill saw Johnny sign the pick guard while sitting on a couch. The GC rep went back to the House of Blues to collect the guitar case. So much for the meet and greet!
