For those seeking a distinctive twist on a traditional design, the Gibson Mod Collection is the perfect choice. This special selection showcases the renowned guitar company's dedication to delivering one-of-a-kind models, rare finds, prototypes, and more. We've been fortunate to acquire a few of these gems and are enamored with each one. This particular model is especially intriguing as it is a Custom Shop-level '54 Les Paul, crafted as a unique, one-off creation.
We always feel lucky to get something like this in, and are happy to present to whomever the lucky person is that ends up with this guitar. Time to check out this amazing guitar from the Gibson Mod Collection.
This custom finished '54 Les Paul Standard has a slew of features that make this a unique Gibson. Right off the bat it comes with its "Smooth Black Satin" finish and black hardware that really stands out. We haven't seen one like this before, and neither have you - because it's the only one made. It's a mahogany body with a maple top.
The guitar has a dual pickup configuration with a set up Gibson P90's. Known for their versatility, these pickups can handle the heat but also clean up nicely. When the Les Paul was first introduced to the world, the P90 was the only pickup option - eventually it switched to humbuckers, but a lot of players gravitated back to P90's over the years. Why? Well, they provide a sound like no other - a combination of warm & creamy mixed with bright & shiny. That's what you get with this guitar.
The neck profile is a Chunk C neck shape, so if you dig vintage Gibson carves, this is for you (conversely, if you want a super skinny neck, this isn't for you). The medium jumbo frets and 12" radius on the rosewood fretboard makes it a breeze to play, especially when bending in the higher register. This is a great neck for sure.
The othere standout feature is that the guitar features all black hardware. That's the Grover tuners, wraparound bridge and even the strap buttons. The custom knobs are a nice touch as well.
At only 8.5lbs this instrument is great for long hours of playing. The guitar is in excellent condition - the previous owner is a long-time regular that has become a great source for guitars like this, and he keeps everything in pristine shape. The original hardshell case and Certificate of Authenticity are included. It's been setup to play perfectly by the techs in our shop.
If you want a truly unique dual pickup Les Paul, you've found it!
