We have a special guitar for you, this Gibson Les Paul Special Tribute P90 in Worn Ebony! You don't see many of these around, especially not as nice as this one. We just took it in from one of our favorite sources that keeps all of his gear super clean, and this is a great example. As an added bonus, the electronics have been upgraded. More on that in a moment....
The Les Paul Special was a fantastic guitar that came out in 1955 as an intermediate guitar that came with two pickups and a slab body. This Tribute model brings you that same spirit but with the very finest appointment from its rich history.
The Gibson Les Paul Tribute gives you a resonant single-cut solid mahogany slab body with a satin nitro laquer Ebony finish. The set maple neck comes with a round profile with a rosewood fingerboard with a 12" radius and 22 medium-jumbo frets. Maintain tuning stability with its Graph Tech nut with dot inlays.
P90s are some of the most revered pickups because they bring you single-coil articulation balanced with the fullness that resembles a humbucker. This Tribute is packed with two of them to give you all the P90 tones you could want. You get complete control over your tones with individual volume and tone controls and its 3-way pickup selector.
You get classic hardware with Vintage deluxe tuner with white buttons, black top hat knobs, compensated wraparound bridge, black 5-ply pickguard, black truss rod cover. All in all this is a fantastic tribute to one of the great legendary Gibson guitars.
The techs in our shop have it setup to play perfectly, and also replaced the jackplate with a nicer metal one for durability. Also, we found that the guitar had been modded a bit.....it came with the “circuit board” style guts, which someone took that out and hardwired . It now has CTS 500k pots, and Sprague “Orange Drop” caps (.022). While rewiring it, they shielded the switch cavity and control cavity with enough copper foil to bake a potato.
This guitar is in excellent condition and comes with a hardshell case. This is a great score for sure!
