Fano Alt de Facto JM6 HB Heavy Distress Olive with Gig Bag
The Fano Alt de Facto JM6 is a vintage-inspired electric guitar that combines the best features of classic models with modern craftsmanship and custom pickups. Each JM6 is hand-built by one builder in Scottsdale, AZ, using premium tone woods and aged hardware. This one was spec'ed out together by the head of Truetone and the head of Fano, collaborating to create some guitars that hadn't been done before. This heavily distressed JM6 with dual humbuckers, in an Olive finish, is a one of a kind instrument and the only one out there right now.
Light and quick, this curvy beauty is made to respond to the touch. Get as rough or smooth as you like, the contoured body and smooth maple neck are built for comfort as well as speed. The JM6 incorporates a 25.5" scale length, compound radius (9.5 - 12.0"), and an early-60’s C Shape neck that feels comfortable and familiar in your hands. A unique feature of this guitar is that it has an Ebony fretboard, rarely seen on a Fano. As an added bonus, it has stainless steel frets, another spec that found on very few Fano guitars.
The true calling card for this guitar is that the body is made out of Paulownia - a super light wood. That last photo showing the weight is right - the guitar weighs just 5.4 lbs. Everyone here was a bit shocked when they picked it up. Paulownia is one of the lightest viable tonewoods. It offers good sustain and a tone rich in midrange overtones, soft in the high-end, and pronounced in the lows. The end result is a guitar that is sonically balanced and won't sound harsh. For anyone that wants a lightweight JM6, this cannot be beat.
We went for a new twist on this JM6, choosing to do it with Lollar Imperial Humbuckers (uncovered, double black). This was the suggestion of Fano's Graham Dowling. It's their take on the original 1950s P.A.F. pickup. Designed to draw from the long revered qualities of the original P.A.F.s while improving on their frequency balance and giving a slight boost to the bridge pickup’s output, this could be our favorite humbucker out there. The neck & bridge pickups match together very well and are balanced. Together, they make for an amazing set on an amazing guitar. As soon as we plugged this guitar in, we see why he suggested them - and were quite happy! This is one of the best sounding JM6's that we've ever had here, and we've had a lot.
We chose the Heavy Distress package, and Fano knocked it out of the park. No surprise there - they always do! But this one is a especially well done. The wear is realistic, in the right places, and gives the guitar a great vintage look and feel. We chose to do in Olive....a color rarely seen. We knew it would be cool but didn't realize how cool until it arrived!
Other features include a Tone Pros bridge, Gotoh SD91 tuners, black reflector knobs and a 3-ply black pickguard that matches quite well. A high-quality Fano soft case is included.
Come to Truetone Music to give it a try, or order right here right now before it's gone!
