The "Sound Heard Around the World".  The Fender Precision Bass is the true original.  This Custom Shop creation speaks to bass players that want the traditional feel & sound, recreated in a variety of styles, specs and colors.  We cooked this one up to be an example of what a classic color Precision would have been right off the factory line in 1962.

We went with Aged Black, and added a tortoise shell pickguard - a classic look that will be familiar to Fender bass fans.  For the finish package, we went with this being a Relic.  You'll see a nicely worn in finish, with all of the relic work done in the righ places, as well as finish checking, some of the glossiness muted, and hardware without the shine.  Most importantly, the back of the neck has the finish worn off, giving the bass a truly broken in grip. It gives you a really authentic old school looking bass with the feel of a vintage bass that's been around since the early 60's.  The neck is smooth and comfortable, and features a nice, dark AAA rosewood fretboard. The Custom Shop did a great job in, giving it the loving touch that makes it a pleasure to play.

All of the specs stayed "period correct", giving you the look, feel and sound of a killer vintage bass.   This '62 Precision Bass features a warm sound with a pronounced midrange, providing a pronounced sonic presence alongside simple playability. Thump, growl and power - it's everything you want.  This comes from a Handwound 62 P Bass pickup (normally a significant upcharge).  Alnico 5 magnets and enamel wire, wound by hand just like in the 50's and 60's.  It truly is the most iconic bass pickup in the world.

While we do a lot of super unique Custom Shop builds, some in crazy colors - but sometimes we want to go with a straight classic.  That's what this bass is.  Super comfortable to play, the most classic of tones, and as cooly vintage as it gets, this bass really hits the mark.
