A Little Something Different

The Telecaster more than held its own in the 1960's as a talented new generation of rock, blues and country guitarists not only embraced Leo Fender's original design and it's classic sound, but also coaxed electrifying new music from it.  The specs changed dramatically in 1968 - leading to players and collectors coveting original 1967 models.  And some want something truly unique, which is where this Telecaster comes in....

This Custom Shop 1967 Telecaster evokes the instrument's mid-to-late 60's era, but with a touch of the 70's slapped on it.  Imagine a late 60's Pink Paisley Tele that fell out of style the following decade, so someone covered that beautiful paper with a classic 70's style Antigua Burst paint job - that's what this is.
The guitar has classic features including an alder body with a lacquer finish, a maple neck with slightly larger C shape, and a round-laminated maple fretboard.  This has all of the vintage vibe you could ask for.   The 60's Oval C profile is one of the most popular for Custom Shop guitars, for good reason - it's super comfortable.  For this gutiar,w e had them tweak it just a bit, to add more heft in the first position, creating a touch of a streamlined feel.  It's slim in the upper register, and with the modern specs of a 9.5 radius and 6105 (Narrow Tall) frets, you'll be able to bend without the fear of fretting out.

Of course, the finish is what stands out.  We weren't exactly sure what it would look like but when it landed, we were blown away.  Two of the most distinct looks - Pink Paisley and Antigua Burst - come together in an oddly beautiful way.  The Custom Shop nailed it, adding heavy checking to the Antigua, creating a super cool patina.  We asked for the wear to be smoothed over, without any dings/dents/chips in the wood.  The end result is rather incredible, and likely unlike anything you've seen before.

For the color, we chose something unique that you rarely see - Orange.  We won't blame you if the color and the Bigsby immediately have you thinking about Gretsch.  That's intentional, as Fender and Gretsch are two of our favorite guitar brands!  The Journeyman Relic finish adds to the vintage vibe - it provides the look and feel of a guitar that was played extensively for years, but cared for.

As for sound, Handwound Custom Shop '67 Tele pickups give you the original tone that plays love, thanks in part to a vintage stagger, alnico 5 magnets and enamel wire.  These are lower output pickups, period correct with grey bobbins and copper baseplates.  They give you the warmth of the late 60's along with crystal clear Tele twang.  Put simply, it's the classic sound, and capable of handling a variety of styles.

Other features include a custom Antigua pickguard, vintage-style tuning machines, bone nut and a period correct string tree with a nylon spacer. Also includes a Custom Shop deluxe hardshell case, strap and certificate of authenticity.

This is a special Tele, and one that we haven't seen before - and it's the only one out there like it.  Come to Truetone Music to try it out today, or order right here right now to get it sent straight to your home.
