Green & Gold Supreme

Ever since the Stratocaster debuted in 1954, it has evolved, even in the earliest days.  1959 saw some important changes to the Stratocaster, with a new neck shape, differently voiced pickups, and new color options.  As music progressed during this era, so did Leo Fender's finest creation.  The Strat has continued to change over the years, but for many, stepping back to how it was done in the last year of the 50's is the way to go.

This Custom Shop 1959 Stratocaster is a fine testament to what Fender can do today, featuring a two-piece select alder body with deep contours, a stunningly beautiful AAA Birdseye Maple neck, and gold hardware.  The neck shape is a Large C - so it's the carve of a 60's neck with added grip of a 50's neck.  The more modern tweak is a 9.5" radius and Narrow Tall (6105) frets for easy playing and bending - this is one of the most common and popular modifications to vintage-styled guitars out of the Custom Shop.

As for the aesthetics, this one is an NOS (New Old Stock), so there's no aging or wear whatsoever.  The Custom Shop is well-known for its Relics, but a lot of players want their guitar to be new & shiny - that's who this is for.  It looks like it just left the factory yesterday.  It's a lacquer finish, so of course it will age over time - but that's for you to do!  Plus, a Sherwood Green Metallic Strat with gold hardware and a Birdseye Maple neck is the perfect guitar to be done as an NOS.

For the pickups, when we want classic golden era tone with a little more punch, we're going with the ever-popular Custom Shop Fat 50's Strat set. This particular guitar has Hand-Wound pickups, typically a significant upcharge.  The Fat 50's set gives you calibrated pickups constructed with hand-beveled, staggered Alnico V magnets and Formvar magnet wire.  They deliver enhanced bass response without the harsh midrange. The middle pickup is reverse wound/reverse polarity for hum canceling in positions 2 and 4. The balanced output and enhanced dynamics are what make this Fender's most requested pickup set.  We also dig the Vintage Modified # 2 wiring setup.  This features a master volume, tone # 1 (neck & middle pickups), and tone # 2 (bridge) with treble bleed (for keeping mids and rolling off highs without adding bass).  This guitar sounds downright amazing.

Other features include an American Vintage synchronized tremolo, vintage-style tuning machines, bone nut and a single-ply Eggshell pickguard. Also includes a Custom Shop tweed hardshell case, strap and certificate of authenticity.

We recently scored this guitar at an exclusive Fender Custom Shop Dealer event in Scottsdale - of over 100 instruments available, this was one of the guitars we wanted the most, so we were thrilled to get it.  Come to Truetone Music to check out this amazing Strat, or order here right now for it to be sent straight to your home.
