A mid-60's classic Strat, straight from the Fender Custom Shop as a Limited Edition NAMM one-off.
Every year, Fender puts on a Custom Shop event the night before the NAMM show starts, with hundreds of guitars on display. We go with the agenda of finding ones with a unique style, spec, or color. This year, we tried a new approach: circling the guitars to check the backs of their necks for appearance and feel. This Strat grabbed our attention right away. We immediately went for it, and 3 hours later Truetone Music's card was picked.
This 1964 Strat in Faded/Aged Blue Ice Metallic was expertly finished with the Custom Shop's Journeyman Relic treatment, giving it a worn in feel without being overdone. You'll see heavy checking, fading, and some small nicks, but no wood exposed or extreme wear. What makes this one more unique is the neck. It's a beautiful tinted, quartersawn roasted maple, with the back of the neck getting the Heavy Relic treatment. This makes it extremely comfortable to play. The dark and worn-in back of the neck gives it the appearance of being played every night, but the body looks like it was cared for carefully for decades.
The hand wound 1964 pickups provide a classic, bell-like Strat tone, and are evenly balanced. Along with the Vintage Modified #2 wiring and a special “Tone-Saver” treble-bleed network, the tone is consistent at any volume (no loss of highs when decreasing volume). The '63 "C" neck shape, 9.5" radius and Narrow Tall frets allows for easy playing in all positions.
This NAMM Limited Edition guitar was hand picked by us, and can now by yours. Come to Club Fender at Truetone Music to test it out, or order online right here. All of our instruments are set up upon arrival, and can be adjusted to any specification you desire. Make this one your next Strat today!
