FENDER CUSTOM SHOP MASTERBUILT TODD KRAUSE SWINGER NOS LAMBO ORANGE - FENDER PLAY FOUNDATION COLLECTION

Throughout the years, Truetone Music has received a ton of Custom Shop guitars. They're all special, but when a Masterbuilt piece lands, it feels like an event, not just a guitar.  And when it's a one of a kind Swinger built by Todd Krause, the moment rises to a whole different level.

Fender recently held an exclusive event only for Custom Shop Showcase level dealers.  As a part of this, a very unique offering of Masterbuilt instruments was unveiled.  This included a set of one-off guitars made to benefit the Fender Play Foundation (FPF), a charitable organization dedicated to providing music education and the opportunity for youth to play guitar.  Each instrument is the only one ever made, making it highly collectible.  We at Truetone Music are especially proud to be a part of this, as we fully support the cause and what the FPF does.

Over the years, Fender has offered various models with shorter scale lengths, smaller bodies and simplified electronics.  These were referred to as "student models".  However, over time, they became favored by players of all levels, as they offered a unique feel and tone.  Considering what the FPF is all about, it's only fitting that each Masterbuilder builds their version of a student model.  These one-off guitars are extremely unique, built for a worthy cause and instantly collectible.  It's also an excellent opportunity for the Masterbuilders stretch out on models not commonly ordered through them.  The result is an unbelievable collection.

Todd Krause really went for a deep cut - a Swinger, in brilliant Lambo Orange.  It's an upgraded version of one of Fender's rarest student models.  Originally released in 1969, very few were ever made (estimates range from 250 to 600).  It was developed under the supervision of Virgilio 'Babe' Simoni, who had begun work at Fender in 1953 at the age of 16.  The model never appeared in any Fender promotional literature.  It ended up being one of the most unique guitars in the company's storied history, and very sought after by Fender fanatics and vintage collectors.

For this truly unique, one of a kind guitar, Krause kept the original vibe, but modernized it a bit.  This short scale guitar features RSD saddles, a flatter radius, and handwound Fat 50's Strat pickups.  The body shape and headstock design stand out right away - both are styles rarely seen on a Fender guitar.  It plays exceptionally well, is lightweight (only 6.2 lbs) and sounds amazing.  As for the color, Lambo Orange, it's also something we've never seen on a Fender.  While the photos look great, it's even more appealing in person.

This is a rare opportunity to get a very special, one of a kind guitar, built by one of the best out there. Come to Club Fender at Truetone Music to check it out, or make it yours today by ordering right here.

About the Masterbuilder:
Todd Krause has built exquisitely crafted custom instruments for many of the world’s greatest artists, including Jeff Beck, Eric Clapton, Bob Dylan, David Gilmour, Robbie Robertson, Kenny Wayne Shepherd, Robin Trower, Roger Waters and many others.  His guitar-building apprenticeship began in early 1981 at Jackson/Charvel guitars. Krause arrived at Fender in 1991 and steadily rose through several roles, including one-off instrument builder, R&D model maker, and woodworking machinist. He became a Custom Shop Master Builder in 1997 and has since created countless distinctive instruments, all of which embody his personal design philosophy: “Form and function are the biggest part of it,” he said. “It’s about the way an instrument sounds and feels. It has to look cool, and it has to compel you to play.”

About the Fender Play Foundation:

Leo Fender once said "Artists are angels. Our job is to give them wings to fly."  The Fender Play Foundation is giving kids wings to fly.  It is a 501(c)(3) public charity organization supported by hundreds of individuals committed to give youth access to the benefits of music education, outfitting them with the best equipment, supporting teachers to keep kids playing and introducing them to inspiring artists.  The FPF provides a pathway for students to reach their full potential through music education. By breaking down the barriers many children face in finding the right instructional leadership and means to purchase instruments, the Foundation helps students grow cognitively, creatively, socially and emotionally.
