A square shoulder dreadnought with a unique personality - there's nothing like a Dove. First introduced in the early 60's, this Gibson acoustic brought a new look and tone to the acoustic world.  From then to today, countless artists have made great use of a Dove.  Tom Petty wrote the hit song American Girl on it.  Elivs played one at the Aloha from Hawaii concert film.  And today, the legend continues with models like this Gibson Dove Original.

This iconic square-shoulder acoustic electric guitar, featuring a flame maple back and sides, is stunning in it's a Vintage Cherry Sunburst finish. The combination of its maple construction and square-shoulder body creates a balanced and warm sound, while the solid Sitka spruce top adds punch and clarity. The result is a beautifully controlled, yet powerful tone.  

The mahogany neck has a round profile that is very comfortable, and is topped with a choice rosewood fretboard, 20 frets and mother of pearl parallelogram inlays.  It's a breeze to play, the type of guitar that you don't want to put done.

Classic Dove details include bone nut and saddle, double antiqued multi-ply binding, nickel Grover keystone tuners, a traditional Dove truss rod cover, and a cherished pickguard featuring an inlaid mother-of-pearl Dove with hand-engraved and painted detailing.

For those that would like to be amplfied, this guitar has you covered with the LR Baggs VTC pickup/preamp.  The system includes a reliable, long-lasting low-profile under-saddle transducer. Its streamlined design eliminates unnecessary internal parts, improving the connection between the pickup and guitar and increasing sensitivity for a dynamic, natural acoustic sound with excellent dynamics and delicate high frequencies. Paired with a discreet onboard preamplifier and easily removable volume control mounted inside the soundhole, the VTC provides the Dove Original with a clean and authentic amplified tone.

A hardshell case is included.  The guitar was built in Bozeman, Montana - Gibson maintains a separate acoustic shop there, and it's where some of the world's finest guitars are built.
