The Hofner 500/1 violin bass was designed by Walter Hofner and launched at the Frankfurt Music Messe in 1956. It has since gone on to become one of the most recognizable electric bass guitars in the music world in terms of both looks and sound.

This model is based on the original 1962 Hofner model, with the fully hollow body and original '62 neck profile for added sustain and playability.  The flame maple back & sides, and spruce top provide excellent natural acoustic resonance.  It's finished in a gorgeous classic sunburst finish.  The 2-piece flame maple looks amazing and also is super comfortable.

The 'Mersey' bass is inspired by a bass made in August 1963 for Paul McCartney. Two piece neck, two-on-a-strip tuners and unbound neck. Fully hollow body. Original '63 Hofner neck profile. Fitted with flatwound strings. For the fully authentic look and sound of the early 1960s this is the bass.

Loaded with Hofner Staple humbuckers, it delivers the classic tone you'd expect.   Warm, woody and almost acoustic sounding, this is the sound that put Hofner on the map. The full set of traditional 500/1 style tone controls give you the ability to dial it in precisely.

It comes with a vintage-style Hofner tweed case and all of the vintage vibe you could ever ask for!

The Hofner 1962 Reissue Violin Bass is intended to be a spot-on recreation of one of the most famous instruments of all time.  There's one way to get "the sound", and this is it.
