Hofner 1964 Reissue Violin Bass - Sunburst with Vintage Case - H500/1-64-O
A perfect re-creation of one of Hofner's most iconic bass, this 1964 Reissue Violin Bass (H500/1-64-O) brings all of the classic stylings and sounds to be expected. For those that desire the warm and woody bass tone, then you can't beat a pair of classic Hofner Staple humbuckers. This is the sound that put Hofner on the map. A full set of traditional 500/1 style tone controls let you dial the perfect sound.
One of the things that sets the 1964 model apart from previous iterations is its extremely comfortable and fast-playing 3-piece flame maple and beech neck. It's a slimmer shape than that found on previous models, providing fast and more comfortable action. It has the bound rosewood fretboard of the original 1964 model it's based on. White celluloid neck binding distinguishes the V64 from the other German made Hofner violin basses.
The light weight of the fully hollow body will be appreciated after a long nights playing. This one has beautiful Flame Maple for the back & sides, with a Spruce top, and is in a beautiful Sunburst finish. It has all of the look, sound and feel of a classic mid-60's violin bass, with the modern quality that is Hofner is known for.
So, if you're looking for that iconic warm, woody, and almost acoustic tone, then you'll be thrilled with this one!
The bass comes with a vintage style tweed case, strap, paperwork and Certificate of Authenticity. It has been setup to play perfectly by the techs in our repair shop. We don't get many of these in, and they take quite a long time (we waited about a year for this one). So if this is up your alley, don't let it go by!
