Used And Vintage

While some may say that a banjo isn't for everyone, for those that it is, we have a special find for you.  A vintage Vega tenor banjo hard to find, especially as great as this one.

This 1928 Vega Style-R Tenor Banjo is professional-grade four-string instrument that has now made its way through the world for nearly a century.  Crafted by the Vega Company in Boston, it was built to last. Known formally as the Style R "Whyte Laydie", this is one of the most iconic tenor banjos of the era.  What you get is excellent build quality, strong projection, and a clean and crisp tone.

The signifying feature of the Style R is its three-piece scalloped tone ring, which brings a bright and resonant sound that is quite articulate.  It has an innovative steel bracket band inset with hooks around the laminated maple rim. This allows the tension hooks to be mounted without drilling holes into the wood rim, so the structural integrity and resonance of the shell is preserved.  It's also instantly recognizable by the headstock and ebony fingerboard.  It has a comfortable medium-V neck profile, and a standard tenor scale length.

Everything is original except for the tuners and the aftermarket hardshell case.  It's been setup to play perfectly by the techs in our shop.  Vintage 1920s Vega tenor banjos are sought after by collectors and traditional banjo players. This is a great score.
