For those that know, or are soon to know, Guild now only has made some of the best jumbos in the history of acoustic guitars, but also some of the best 12-string acoustics. Combine them both, along with premium tonewoods, exquisite adornments and top-level craftsmanship - the result is this amazing JF65-12.
This particular guitar has had quite the history, with lineage dating back to when it was a new guitar in 1987. It was originally bought from Ace Music right here in Santa Monica, which was the precursor to Truetone Music. In the late 1990's, Ace shut down and former employees opened Truetone. Now, over a quarter century, the guitar has made its way to Truetone. It still has the original Ace Music sale tag, as well as the "Ace Stamp" on the back of the headstock.
Now, back to the guitar - this amazing 12-string jumbo acoustic was built during Guild’s highly regarded Westerly, Rhode Island era. First introduced in 1987, the JF65-12 was a temporary rebranding of the legendary F-412 model. If you're looking for exceptional projection and shimmering chime, this is it.. The JF65-12 is a unique design, featuring a carved, arched laminate maple back without internal back bracing. This helps project outward, leaving an impressive volume when played. The flame maple back & sides is paired with a tight grained Sitka spruce top. The result is a wonderful tone, full of clarity, articulation and a surprising warmth. You get excellent note separation, leading to it being one of the best sounding 12-string guitars we've had here.
The Blonde finish showcases the flamed maple and adds a nice vintage vibe to the guitar. Thankfully, this one is in great condition - it does have signs of player wear, which is to be expected after nearly 40 years, but it's been well-kept and taken care of nicely.
The JF65-12 has a perfectly made 3-piece flamed maple neck, which beautifully matches the body. It's a 25 1/2" scale length, with a 1 13/16" nut width for extra string spacing. It's very comfortable to play, even by 12-string standards. To handle the tension generated, the neck is reinforced with Guild’s signature dual truss rod system, providing long-term stability and precise adjustment.
Other features include Mother-of-Pearl and abalone block fingerboard inlays, an ebony bridge, gold hardware, and pristine multi-ply binding. It's an ornate and truly stunning guitar.
The original hardshell case is included. Setup to play perfectly by the techs in our shop, it's ready to go. This Guild JF65-12 is a serious find for serious 12-string players.
