Used And Vintage

We just took in a rare and premium Gibson acoustic with this CL-45 Artist - this is one that you don't see very often.  Built in Montana, it was part of the short-lived Custom Line (CL) series, which Gibson only produced in 1997 and 1998.  These guitars are highly regarded for their masterfully selected tonewoods, excellent build quality and elegant detailing.  The CL series led to the now iconic Songwriter series, and there aren't many out there, so well-maintained pieces like this are highly collectible.  Here we have a version that very few of were made.

What you get is a dreadnought featuring a single Venetian cutaway for upper-fret access, built out of premium solid Indian rosewood back and sides paired with a solid Sitka spruce top.  The resulting tone is rich, and supremely resonant.  It has hand-scalloped X-bracing for enhanced tonal balance.  The mahogany neck, capped with an ebony fretboard, has a slim C profile that is super easy to play and very comfortable.

Finished in Antique Natural gloss lacquer, the guitar shines with abalone body binding, a mother-of-pearl headstock logo with an angel wing inlay, an abalone rosette, and gold open gear Grover tuners.  This is a stunning guitar for sure.

This CL-45 Artist is in great shape, especially considering it's nearly 30 years old.  There are marks on the body, finish checking other signs of its age, but nothing major.  It's a single-owner guitar - the previous owner bought it here in Los Angeles as a new guitar at West L.A. Music back in 1997 and has had it ever since.  The original hardshell case is included, as is the original paperwork.  Setup to play perfectly by the techs in our shop, it's ready for its next home.
