Pre-Owned 2001 Lowden S-25J Natural With OHSC

We just took in amazing classical made by the renowned boutique builder Lowden.  Hand-crafted in Ireland since the 1970's, these guitar represent some of the best acoustic out there.  Over time, Lowden has built a reputation for exceptional craftsmanship, innovative design, and a distinct, rich tonal quality.

Designed to feel comfortable and familiar to classical and steel string players alike, the Lowden Jazz Series includes this model, the S-25J.  It's the ultimate "cross-over" guitar. The neck has enough width to facilitate the nylon strings but at the same time the cambered fingerboard allows for a wide variety of playing styles.  All S-shaped Jazz models have a cutaway as standard. The soundbox is voiced for a great acoustic response, and at the same time stiff enough to prevent the whole guitar from overreacting when played loud through a sound system.  Designed to be plugged in, this guitar is an acoustic-electric, with a under saddle transducer pickup that reproduces the true sound of the guitar wonderfully.

The back & sides are East Indian Rosewood, paired with a Cedar top.  The resulting tone is incredible - present enough to stand out, but warm enough to never come off as harsh.  It has a beautiful singing quality, with a voice that is deep but retaining clarity on the top end.  While more traditional classicals are built to move air with projection, this S-25J is tighter with a articulate and punchy voice that cuts through the mix.

One of the most important features of this guitar is the playability.  It has a much thinner neck profile and a narrower nut width than a traditional classical guitar.   That lets players easily form complex chords and play thumb-over techniques without straining.  The neck is supremely comfortable.

This guitar was built in 2001 and is still in great condition.  The previous owner took great care of it - while there are normal signs of use, there's nothing major and it's very clean.  The original hardshell case is included.  Setup to play perfectly by the techs in our shop, this Lowden S-25J is ready for its next home.
