We just scored a highly sought after piece of Fender's 21st century history: an American Vintage Hot Rod '62 Strat.  This one in particular is in the rarely found color of Sherwood Green Metallic, and is in excellent condition.

In 2007, Fender debuted the American Vintage Hot Rod series, which was an immediate hit.  Whereas the regular American Vintage models had complete vintage specs (7.25" radius, small vintage frets, etc.), the Hot Rods had a touch of modernization (9.5" radius, medium jumbo frets, different wiring, etc.).  They still retained the "Thin Skin" finish and sounds of a classic Strat, but were easier to play and more adapted to the current age.  These models existed in Fender's lineup for about 6 years, but this one in particular - the Sherwood Green Metallic '62 Strat was only built for 2 years.  Hence, it's a hard one to find.

1962 was a benchmark year for the Stratocaster  This model takes you back to that time, with some interesting tweaks and useful upgrades. It features a thin nitrocellulose lacquer-finished body, larger, "C"-shaped satin-finished neck with modern 9.5" fingerboard radius and medium jumbo frets, reverse wound/reverse polarity middle pickup, five-way switch and tone pot wired to the bridge pickup.  This gives you all of the vibe of a vintage guitar but with modern playability and a different wiring arrangement than normally found on a Strat.

This guitar came to us in excellent condition - other than a few small nicks in the finish on the body, there are no issues and it seems to have not been played a ton.  There's a ton of life left in the frets.  Everything on the guitar is original, except the jack (it was a bit noisy so we replaced it).  Also, about the case:  this model originally came with a 60's style brown case, but this one has a tweed case (still made by G&G and of the same quality).  It has been setup to play perfectly by our shop - the frets were dressed, the taken care of, and the guitar feels great.  It sounds even better!

We don't think this one will last long.  Come to Truetone Music to experience it today, or order right here before it's gone.
