Pre-Owned 2016 Nik Huber Krautster II - Worn Vintage White With OHSC

In the world of boutique guitars, Nik Huber reserves a special place. 30 years ago, Huber, who comes from a line of woodworkers going back four generation, got off the road as a working musician and started the company. Over the decades he and his small team have built a reputation for putting some of the best electrics out there. Hand-crafted in Germany, they represent top notch design, luthiery and overall class. We've only seen a few coming here, and we are always impressed. This one is a great example.
The Nik Huber Krautster II is a masterpiece of minimalist, high-end German lutherie. Often described as a "Les Paul Junior on steroids", it strips away all unnecessary visual clutter to deliver a raw, muscular, and highly resonant rock-and-roll machine. It's simple, and powerful.
The flame maple neck is not only visually stunning, it's finished to perfection and very easy to play. It has a great vintage grip while not being too thick (measuring .88" at the 1st fret and .96" at the 12th fret). The premium rosewood fretboard sports 22 medium jumbo frets and a 10 - 14" compound radius, so bending in the upper register is no problem. For the body, you get mahogany with nice cream binding. The Worn Vintage White finish is thin and really lets the guitar breath, adding to the resonance.
The sound is really where this guitar shines. It's loaded with a Krauster humbucker in the bridge position, custom-wound by Harry Häussel in Germany. This is designed to be a hotter pickup that cuts through a mix. You plenty of punch, strong midrange definition, and incredible sustain. In the neck position, it's also a Harry Häussel custom-wound pickup, but a P90. It has plenty of body and girth with a prominent, clear mid-range, and never thin. It gives you a warm and bluesy voice that retains crisp treble definition. Combined, these pickups sound incredible. The guitar also features a push/pull coil tap for the humbucker, providing more tonal options.
Other features include a Nik Huber designed adjustable stoptail bridge, Schaller Kluson-style GrandTune tuners, a double action truss rod and a bone nut. The guitar includes the original hardshell case.
